Advanced Cruising Standard

Objective: To be able to safely act as skipper and crew of an 8-15 meter sailing vessel, operating day and night in coastal or inland waters in any weather. Learn night sailing and navigation, passage planning, spinnaker handling, sail theory, weather systems, emergency procedures, advanced seamanship, vessel maintenance and repair. Course includes on-board food, accommodation study material, exam and certification. Upon successful completion of the written exam and sailing skills evaluation, the Sail Canada Advanced Cruising Standard certification will be awarded.

This is a 7-day live-aboard program, taught by “Capt. Mac”.

Prerequisites:

  1. Intermediate Cruising Standard
  2. Intermediate Coastal Navigation Standard
  3. VHF Radio License ROC Maritime/DSC
  4. First Aid Certificate

 

Recommended: Several seasons of charter experience or sea time.
